Ngantung, Henk (1921 –1994)
Born in Bogor, his parents were from Tomohon, Minahasa, North Sulawesi. He began painting in 1934 and he had his first solo exhibition in Tomohon in 1936, after which he went to Java. From 1937-41 he studied with the Dutch painter, Willem F.M. Bosschaert and Austrian artist Rudolf Wenghart in Bandung. He had a solo exhibition at Hotel Savoy-homann, Bandung in 1939. He was a member of POETERA/PEOPLE’S ACTIVITY CENTRE and later studied at Keimin Bunka Shidoso cultural centre in Jakarta 1942-1944. In 1946 he was a co-founder of the gelanggang arts organization. In 1947 he had a solo exhibition at the hotel des Indes, Jakarta. In the 1950s and 1960s he was involved in the communist-sponsored art organization LEKRA / PEOPLE’S CULTURAL INSTITUTE and participated in cultural missions to the soviet union and china. He was vice-governor of Jakarta from 1960 – 1964 and governor of Jakarta in 1964 – 1965.

Nashar(B. 1928)
He studied painting with S. Sudjojono and Affandi. He co-founded and taught at IKJ/Jakarta Institute of the Arts from 1970 – 1972 and from 1979 – 1991, and was a member of DKJ / Jakarta Arts Council, 1973 – 1976. His works have spontaneous strokes and lines, indicating his rejection of technique, aesthetics and concepts (“three non’s: non-teknik, non-estetik & non-konsep”). He participated in numerous exhibitions, including the Festival of Indonesia, USA, 1990 – 1992 and group exhibitions, at the Gate Foundation, Amsterdam, Holland, 1993.

Nasirun (B. 1965)
He studied at the Indonesia Fine Art Academy (ASRI), Yogyakarta. He has won many prizes from ASRI. In 1997 his work was selected as one of the five best paintings at Yayasan Seni Rupa Indonesia Philip Morris Indonesian Art Awards.

Natalsya, Amrus (B. 1933)
A sculptor and painter, Amrus Natalsya graduated from ASRI / Indonesian Academy of Fine Arts,Yogyakarta in 1962. ln 1961 together with Sutopo, Isa Hasanda, Misbach, Djokopekik, Gumelar and others, he founded the Sanggar Bumi Tarung in Yogyakarta. He was a member of LEKRA / People's Cultural Institute and in the communist purge that followed the abortive coup of October 1965 he was imprisoned and banned from major exhibitions.

Neif, Arifien (B. 1955)
He moved to Jakarta in the 70s. It was only in the mid 80s he took on painting professionally. His eye for aesthetics geared him into interior design and soon architectural and interior design elements appeared as part of the scenes he painted. He was fascinated with the works of European artists like Matisse, Chagall, and Bosch, and equally admired the paintings of Sudjojono, the founder of Persagi.

Nuarta, Nyoman (B. 1951)
He graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Institute of Technology Bandung, majoring in sculpture. In 1979 he became involved in the Gerakan Seni Rupa Baru lndonesia (Indonesia New Art Movement). He has held numerous solo exhibitions in Indonesia and abroad. Some of his pieces such as Proklamator Indonesia and Arjuna Wiwaha, have become the landmarks of Jakarta. Currently he is preparing the Garuda Wisnu Kencana monument in Bali.

Nugroho, Asri (B. 1952)
He learnt the art from his father. Although Asri Nugroho did not have formal training in art, but he learnt from few Surabaya senior artists such as Bambang Soegeng and O.H. Supono. He has had few solo and group exhibitions since 1983.

Nurhadi, Didik (B. 1972)
He graduated from
ISI / Indonesian Art Institute, Yogyakarta, in 1999. There is something unique about his work that the human figures there in are obese. His works are humorous but disturbing parody. He has had several solo exhibitions in Yogyakarta.

Nurwanto, Ibnu (B. 1957)
He graduated from Institute of Fine Art, Jakarta. He is known as a sculptor who loyal to wood as he believes that wood close to human being but his works also made of bronze or fiber as a replica of the works of wood for socialization purpose. He has actively participated in several exhibitions in Jakarta.

Nyoman Widnyana (Gung Man), I Gusti (B. 1956)
He was born in Sanglah, Denpasar, Bali in 1956. He studied art at the SRRI, Denpasar Bali. He also studied to paint in Ubud style under the guidance of Mangku Nyoman Lesug at the Neka Art Gallery. He continued his study at the Art and Design faculty at Udayana University, Bali. He met Arie Smit and he motivated Gung Man to carry on painting. He has been participated in a lot of group exhibitions since 1982 and won some awards at local art competitions.
