Wakidi (1889 - 1979)
As a young man, he worked on the oil fields at Plaju, Sumatra. He was best known as a painter of landscapes with Minangkabau.West Sumatra themes. He taught at the Kayutanam school in West Sumatra.

W, Mulyadi (B. 1938)
Studied at the Indonesian Art Academy (ASRI) in Yogyakarta from 1955 to 1960. He was also one of the founders of the Sanggar Bambu in Yogyakarta in 1959. He did a touring exhibition in Java and Madura with the other members of Sanggar Bambu. In 1967 he did a solo exhibition in Balai Budaya, Jakarta and up to now he is still actively participated in various exhibitions in Indonesia and abroad.

Wahyuni, Erica Hestu (B. 1971)
She started to study painting when she was in primary school. She also joined Sanggar Katamsi, a children’s drawing club where she studied with Sunarto P.R. and Herry Wibowo. From 1989 – 1996 she studied at ISI / Indonesian Art Institute, Yogyakarta. She received the award for Best Work at the Ninth Dies Natalis ISI Yogyakarta in 1993. She has had solo exhibitions in Yogyakarta and Jakarta and has participated in group exhibitions in Indonesia, Singapore, Philippines, Japan and Russia.

Wardojo (B.1935)
Born in Banyumas on April 29. He studied at ASRI, Jogjakarta in 1961. Lots of his paintings depicted a peaceful mood from his urban place.

Wianta, I Made (B. 1949)
He studied at the Indonesia School of Art (SSRI) and the Indonesia Art Academy (ASRI) Yogyakarta. He has held many exhibitions abroad and received the Art Academia Intern “Greci Marino” award from Italy.

Wichers, H.A.L. (1893-1968)
After finishing his studies at the Rijksacademie, Amsterdam, he returned to Indonesia in 1919. He became a member of Bataviasche Kunstkring and participated in their exhibitions between 1923 and 1936. Profilic and well-known painter, draughtsman, watercolorist, and mural painter in an impressionistic style in a bright coloring. His works are represented in the collections of the Tropenmuseum and the Nijmeegs Museum Commanderie van St. Jan, The Netherlands.

Widayanto, F. (B. 1953)
He studied at Institute of Fine Art Bandung (FSRD ITB). His career path is proof of the struggle with media he has experienced. Since childhood he was fond of drawing and he entered ITB in 1974 majoring in ceramics. After graduated from ITB (1981) he devoted his time to painting until he succeeded in having his first solo ceramic exhibition in Erasmus Huis, Jakarta. He joins Marryan’s Clay and finally he decided to stand on his own (1990) and became actively involved in his work and established a ceramic company.

H. Widayat(1919-2002)
He graduated from ISI / Indonesian Art Institute, Yogyakarta, where he lectured. Then in 1960, he studied ceramics in Japan. His style has been called magic-decorative, and he is considered as the main propagator of decorativism in Indonesia. In 1972 he received a cultural award from the Indonesian government.

Wiharso, Entang (B. 1967)
In 1987 he entered the painting art study program of Fine Art and Design Faculty, Indonesian Art Institute in Yogyakarta and graduated in 1994. Since 1987 he has been active in many exhibitions in some big cities in Indonesia and frequently received awards, such as the Best Water Color painting of Fine Art and Design Faculty, Indonesian Art Institute Yogyakarta in 1987, the Best Painting Work of Fine Art and Design Faculty, Indonesian Art Institute in Yogyakarta in 1989 and the Best Work of Dies Natalis (anniversary) Indonesian Art Institute Yogyakarta 1992.

Winkler, Richard (B. 1969)
He studied visual arts at the Nyckelviken School of Art and then continued his study at the Beckmans School of Design. The human body particularly fascinates him. In 1997 he moved to Bali.

Wiradana (B. 1968)
Wiradana studied at the Indonesia Fine Art Institute, Yogyakarta and won several awards there. He has participated in several group exhibitions and become the Phillip Morris Indonesian Art Awards nominee in 1995, 1998 and 2000.

Wiwoho, Bambang (B. 1959)
He studied art at Sanggar Pejeng Bali, conducted by Dullah. He has had few exhibitions in Bali and Surabaya.

Born in Surabaya

Wu, Guan Zhong (B. 1919)
Training in western art began at the hangzhou academy of art in 1936 under lin fengmian. After his graduation in 1942, he received a teaching position at the national chungking university. He then traveled to france and during the next four years studied oil painting under frofessor j.m. souverable at the l’ecole national superieure des beaux arts and the a. l’hote and o’frieze studios. He also studied art history at the l’ecole wu guanzhong and taught at the central academy of fine art, qinghua university and in the art department of Beijing normal academy. Currently, he is a professor at the central academy of fine arts and crafts.
